PRCS continues to be dedicated to enhancing community health, wellness, and social connection by providing diverse, high-quality programs and well-maintained facilities. Director’s Report

As part of the department’s Youth Initiative, PRCS teen services specialists mentor the Loudoun County Youth Advisory Council, a student-led organization. Highlights include the annual Youth in Government Day and Loudoun’s Battle of the Bands. The annual music competition for middle and high school musicians has been held for 18 years. Teen Outreach Launched in 2025, the Loudoun’s Trails and Waterways (LTW) Trail Guide makes it easy to explore the county’s beautiful parks, paths, and natural spaces while staying active and healthy. The interactive guide helps trail users of all levels discover routes with quick summaries, difficulty levels, surface types, and what to expect along the way. Digital Accessibility Recognizing the rapid growth of Loudoun County's older adult population, with 23% of residents being 55+, PRCS expanded caregiver programs through the Loudoun Area Agency on Aging. As a result, participants receiving caregiver services increased by 53%, and case management contacts rose by 201%, reflecting both growing demand for caregiver support and the expanded level of assistance provided by PRCS staff. Aging in Place PRCS has partnered with Loudoun County Extension Services’ Nutrition Educator to offer free nutrition education classes at seven of the department’s facilities across the county. Topics include home food preservation, diabetes nutrition, meal planning and basic cooking skills. Nutrition Services
