Outdoor Geocaching Adventure All Ages Explore the trails of Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve with a self-guided geocaching adventure available during preserve open hours. Using a smartphone and the free Geocaching app, participants can search for hidden caches along well-maintained natural surface trails while discovering scenic areas along the way. This passive program allows visitors to explore at their own pace while enjoying a fun, family- friendly outdoor treasure hunt. Stop in the Visitor Center if you have questions. This introductory archery class provides instruction, practice, and skills-testing through fun archery games. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. With nearly 15-miles of trails that span 695 acres, there’s plenty of room to roam. Stop by the Visitor Center to pick up a free souvenir and a trail map to choose from several color-coded trails. Join us for a family-friendly celebration of pollinators to raise awareness about protecting natural areas and to promote Banshee Reeks. Play All Day VA All Ages Commemorate the longest day of the year and Play All Day at Banshee Reeks! In honor of Father’s Day, stop at the Visitor’s Center to learn about our “Dad Skills” challenge activity, participate in yard games, or simply relax in a rocker to enjoy the view from our porch. No registration required. Play All Day VA is a statewide initiative coordinated by the Virginia Recreation and Park Society. With 34 years of experience, Kidsinger Jim and his guitar perform folksongs enjoyed by kids of all ages. Set out on a 1-mile self-guided adventure to discover an ancient lava rock formation by grabbing a marked trail map from the Visitor Center. Use your nature knowledge and observations to answer questions during your adventure, then return with the correct answers to claim your own geological prize.
