Planetarium - We Miss You Pluto! All Ages Our beloved planet Pluto is missed by many! Learn how its status as a planet changed to a dwarf planet, and why Pluto is loving its new status in the Kuiper belt. The planetarium is usually experienced by sitting on a cushion or lying on the floor. Chairs are available upon request to hansonpark@loudoun.gov. Registration is required for all participants. Did you ever want to know how a firefly’s light works? Learn about bioluminescence and firefly communication. We will play music and dance with glow sticks while we watch the fireflies in the fields. F 7:30-8:30pm 8/29 $5 474725-01 Firefly Dance Party Ages 3-10 Celebrate your birthday at the Hanson Park Nature Center! Our birthday party package includes a 1-hour staff activity which could include one of the following; meeting the animal ambassadors, creating a campfire, or searching for dinosaur eggs. Email HansonPark@loudoun.gov for more information. All Ages The Hanson Park Nature Center is open Monday-Saturday from 10:00am-4:00pm. Inside are our animal ambassadors, exhibits, scavenger hunt, activities, free disc rental, free nature explorer kit rental and more. Field Trips All Ages At the Hanson Park Nature Center, we offer field trips on various ecological concepts, gardening, campfires, pond life, and more. Email HansonPark@loudoun.gov for more information. Scout Programs All Ages Activities are available for all scout levels. These programs can fulfill requirements for many adventures, journeys, badges, etc. Leaders, chaperones, parents, and guardians are free. Minimum fees apply. Email HansonPark@loudoun.gov for more information. Traveling Planetarium All Ages Bring the wonders of space and time to your group. This inflatable, portable planetarium will provide an interactive experience to make larger than life concepts attainable. Topics include constellations, seasons, orbits, planets, and more. Play All Day All Ages For the summer solstice, Hanson Park is joining a statewide initiative to Play All Day. Throughout the day there will be activities to enjoy at Hanson Park including a nature walk, chemistry demonstration, bingo, bounce house, and splashpad party. F 9:00am-6:00pm 6/20 Free 474713-01 All Ages Start your Fourth of July with us for the 3rd Annual Red, White, and Run 5K. This certified, multi-terrain course will take runners and walkers of all ages throughout the north complex of Hanson Park and is the third race of the Run Your PRCS Parks timed series.
