Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve Open Daily, 8:00am-5:00pm Closed: Fridays in December & February facebook.com/BansheeReeksNaturePreserve This Winter at Banshee Reeks Escape the holiday hubbub with a visit to Loudoun’s best kept secret! Banshee Reeks is a large, permanently protected natural area in Leesburg that offers passive recreation and hands-on learning for all while providing essential ecosystem services to our communities. Diverse habitats, plentiful wildlife, and 15 miles of scenic trails give residents a conservation-focused experience. Stop by the Visitor Center
to get recommendations from our friendly staff and to meet our new ambassador snake, Kernel. Winter programs such as Beginner Birding and Nature Sketching offer an opportunity to build new skills, or try an experienced guide on a Full Moon Hike or New Year Sunrise Hike for your best chance to spot wildlife. For a behind-the-scenes look at the science happening at the preserve, check out the Research Expo. New this winter is a special two-night event, Starry Nights and Winter Lights, which celebrates the solstice with festive entertainment, nature crafts and hot cider & cocoa.
