over a decade ago to support YAC’s “For teens, by teens” mission and to provide a 100% free platform for teen musicians to play for a live audience with professional sound mixing. In addition to the prizes provided for the winning acts, the program provides constructive criticism via a panel of industry professionals who judge the competition. Past competitors have gone on to play at large-scale events such as the Van’s WarpedTour, American Idol, and even open for Bon Jovi at the Capital One Arena (as high school students)! Many of our competition alumni attribute a portion of their success to the lessons learned while going through Loudoun’s Battle of the Bands. We look forward to having you join us and remember...the “greats” in any field start here at home! If you would like to sign up for Battle of the Bands fill out the interest form through this link https://lfportal.loudoun.gov/Forms/ BoB. If you have any questions email yac@loudoun.gov. YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL Members of the Loudoun Youth Advisory Council have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, meet new people, and be a voice for Loudoun’s teens. Members work with local nonprofits to plan special events, (e.g., Loudoun’s Battle of the Bands and Step Up), work on community service projects, participate in leadership field trips, and promote teen-centered events. Spaces are limited in this compet- itive program; applications are accepted on a rolling basis. For more information and applications, please visit loudoun.gov/teens. TEEN VOLUNTEER PROGRAM The Teen Volunteer Program provides an opportunity to complete your community service hours in a dynamic setting. Volunteer opportunities vary and may include service hours in children’s programs, parks and community centers. Current vol- unteer opportunities are for high school teens. Visit loudoun.gov/teens to submit the PRCS volunteer application.
